Hello fellow blues lovers … and Welcome.

Since you are already visiting my Blues piano course website, you most likely have a desire to study to become a blues piano player. You could soon be on your way to becoming a blues piano player like a pro. I would like to begin by telling you a little bit about myself and why I have decided to share my tricks and trade secrets to anyone out there who is wanting to play the blues and boogie-woogie like a real pro.

In my travels in the last few years, people have continually made the comment that I have that 'old school' technique in my piano playing. Well, I guess that is a result of the way I was initially taught to play the piano.

My mother who was from New Orleans was my first piano teacher. She and I spent the first part of my life in New Orleans playing old blues and boogie woogie tunes until we joined my father in San Francisco. Now, my father was a Methodist Minister so needless to say my more formal lessons began in the church with the church organist. Having that New Orleans and Gospel influence early in my life has led to what folks are referring to as the 'old school' technique.

I love to play the piano and I have been fortunate to not only make a living at doing what I love but also I have won several awards.

My family and my musician friends have encouraged me to put some instructional material together in hopes of passing on the technique of playing blues and boogie woogie to the up and coming musicians of the younger generation and other musicians who just want to learn these techniques. As more and more of the legendary blues players are entering heaven's 'Cotton Club' I feel a strong sense of responsibility to embark on this project.

So now I would like to tell you what my course includes. I have designed these lessons for a beginner to intermediate level.

On the DVD you will get a close up view of the position of my fingers in each exercise.

I have included the audio files of all the lessons so you can play along with the DVD or practicing with the music book.

In the music book I have included the staff lessons so those of you who want to learn to read music can follow along that way.

I am going to demonstrate the different types of blues styles. ie Chicago Blues, New Orleans Blues, West Coast Blues, just to name a few. Within the different styles of blues I am going to show you what to play and how to play it depending on the style you want to reflect. We will be focussing on left hand rhythms and right hand melodies and techniques.

And lastly, I have included a bonus section at the end of the DVD where you can play along and jam with me. I have included some ideas on what you can play.
